English version below.

Privacy policy einfachKontakte

Applies to the einfachKontakte app (package de.studio48.einfachkontakte) from Google Play.

Controller / provider of the app

Studio48, owner Thomas Möller, Dennenkamp 40, 48161 Münster, Germany, e-mail: Info@Studio48.ai, phone: +49 251 39632079. The app backs up your own address book for personal use. Whoever uses the app decides where the backups are stored. The provider of the app receives no contacts and no backups.

Which data

The contacts on the phone: names and nicknames, phone numbers, e-mail and SIP addresses, postal addresses, birthdays and anniversaries, company and job title, websites, relationships, notes, photos and the account a contact belongs to. In addition, the phone's manufacturer and model, so that backups can be identified.

Purpose

Solely backing up the contacts and restoring them from a backup, optionally on another phone. Processing takes place on the device only.

Storage location and encryption

Backups are only stored in the folder chosen in the settings. Each file is encrypted with AES-256-GCM; the key is derived from the self-chosen password (PBKDF2, 600,000 iterations). Without this password a backup cannot be opened – not even by the provider. So that the daily backup can run without input, the password is kept on the phone, encrypted with a key of the Android Keystore that never leaves the device. Android's Google cloud backup is disabled for the app.

Cloud folders

If the folder of a cloud app is chosen (e.g. Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Nextcloud), that app uploads the encrypted files. The terms of the respective cloud provider apply. It only receives the encrypted files, not their content.

Internet connection

None. The app has no internet permission and transmits nothing. Updates come through the app store (Google Play); the store operator's privacy terms apply.

Contacts of other people

The address book contains data of other people. The app only processes it for your own backup; it is neither analysed nor passed on. The password and the backup files should therefore be protected like the address book itself.

Advertising and analytics

The app contains no advertising, no tracking and no analytics or crash reporting services.

Retention and deletion

The folder keeps the latest 10 versions; the app deletes older ones after a successful backup. “Delete all data” in the settings removes settings, password and folder access from the phone and stops the daily backup. The backup files themselves remain in the folder and can be deleted there, e.g. with the Files app. On uninstall, Android removes all app data.

Permissions

Read contacts: for the backup. Modify contacts: only when restoring; contacts are created as new, existing ones remain unchanged. No internet.

Your rights

Towards the provider there are rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), e.g. for requests by e-mail. The provider cannot give information about contacts and backups, as it does not receive them. There is also a right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in North Rhine-Westphalia the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (LDI NRW).
